Toronto’s weather has been more fickle than a teenager’s closet this week. We went from 30C on Tuesday to 12C today. I don’t remember going from shorts to sweaters quite so quickly before! While I am sad to see summer go, it is nice to look forward to wool socks and handknit sweaters for the next few months. I busted out my Grand Central cowl and some fingerless mittens for the bicycle ride to work this morning.
I started swatching for my October sweater yesterday. I have had so much fun looking up inspiration sweaters and charts to design this sweater. It will have a five colour yoke (red, caramel, pale blue, brown and white) with a white body. The coloured yarns are O-Wool Classic 2-ply, and the white is Imperial Wool Tracie. I bought them at the Brooklyn General Store when I was in New York exactly 2 years ago. I remember agonizing over my colour choices while I was in the shop. I am so excited to be casting on for this project now. I am in love with the colours and how they are working up together. However, I am torn between a cardigan and a pullover. Thoughts? What is your favourite? I love the look of some pullover fair isle sweaters, but I am thinking that a cardigan might be more usefull for my wardrobe.
I pulled my swatch out at lunch today and realized that it matched my outfit perfectly! Clearly I was meant to have these shoes in my life, and clearly I was channelling my love for this colour combo when I picked out my tights this morning. The shoes are by Nobrand and are made in Portugal out of the most delicious leather. I am going to live in these shoes all fall.
I just found out about the #fairislefriday hashtag on Instagram today. People have tagged some really beautiful fairisle on it, I would totally recommend checking it out.
